KRISHNA JAYANTHI also know as Krishna janmashtami or gokulashtami is one of the famous Indian festival celebrating the birth of lord Krishna. In Tamil Nadu we usually celebrate this festival with kolams (floor decoration drawn with rice batter), palaharams (snacks) , poojas (prayers) and dressing up children like baby Krishna. Last year (2016) I couldn't celebrate Krishna jayanthi in a grand manner since I was pregnant. So this year am very excited to celebrate and dress up my little Krishna who's is jus 10 months old.

I decided to go with theme peacock which suits this festival and started by decorating the wall of my living room with this handmade tassel garland which I made out in different shades of blue. I love Tassel garland because it is very easy an inexpensive to make. For 1 or 2 bucks u can make plenty of them within few minutes.

Next I made a peacock (inspired from a canvas) by cutting out some bright card-stocks and sticked to the center of my wall to match the theme peacock. Then added the text HAPPY KRISHNA JAYANTHI and hanged the tassel garland.

Peacock theme may not be complete without having a feather. So I took a vase and filled with blue and purple glass gems and topped with a colorful peacock feather.

Here is the Rangoli I made for Krishna Jayanthi. Am not so good at kolam s hence I limited myself trying a smaller one this year. I wanted to make this in shades of blue but it ended up in purple. Tried a basic feather and flute pattern to match the festival and my theme. Then the day before I dressed up my little Krishna and finished the photoshoot so that on the big day I need not rush up with pooja and event recipes. I made his make up really simple and comfy such that it never disturbs his smile. So this is the picture of my baby as little Krishna.

Finally made a mini Krishna hunjal with barbeque sticks and decorated with blue ribbons. It added so much beauty to the entire festival and the theme. So this year my janmashtami celebration was great with lots of fun. And here am attaching few more pics of the festival decoration and pooja. Wishing everyone a very happy and craftyy janmashtami.
